Do you have any sound files or videos of it? I just don’t want to come to aaa to hate the splash and not get it. Hearing it now may also help to choose the right price.

I’m about 45 minutes west of aaa, so bbb would be farther. In your opinion what are the strengths and weaknesses of this splash, be honest.

is this a college essay?
it’s a splash cymbal. it’s goes pshhhhhhhhhh when you hit it. it is cast bronze, made by zildjian in the early 2000’s, sells for around $90 new so $40-$50 is a sweet deal.
i work in ccc so i could meet you on my lunch break some day.

airbus 380

when i was a kid, we went to the top of the CN tower in toronto and i pressed my face (and whole body) against the glass, looking down from (then) the tallest building in the world. but when i got older i became afraid of heights. moreover, i didn’t like attaining heights at high speeds (airplanes).
i took the train between chicago and boston many times to avoid getting in those aluminum tubes. but then i had to get over it. it was just too impractical to not travel by air. trains aren’t very good in this country anymore, eisenhower and a bunch of lobbyists fucked it all up in the 50s.
so i got on planes. and every time i had to go, i would take 1000 shits at the airport and think about the end of my life. my palms would get sweaty, i’d get dehydrated. once we were in the air for a bit, i would calm down. i would have this post-fear appreciation phase, where i realized how lucky i was: all the great people in my life, all the opportunities i have been given.
i don’t think i am fully over my fear. but i think i like airplanes now. there, i said it. i realized this on a trip back from san francisco last month. the bro who got the window seat kept the shade closed the whole time! so you’re taking off in a box. you might as well just drive a refrigerator to the edge of a cliff, get in, and have your friend push you off the cliff: same experience. i was bummed. it made me realize that i always did like looking out of the window, even if it was a little terrifying at first. it’s like plato said about the people in shackles in the cave; when they are exposed to the light, it will hurt their eyes. but eventually they will see it.
anyway, i love flying, it is amazing, i don’t understand it.
but check out the airbus 380:

all of those people love this plane.
listening to vampire weekend
these guys are really great. there is a lot of bad music right now, let’s face it. lots of stuff that sounds the same and we’re supposed to care about it and get the updates on our phones. i don’t want to shit on other bands here because i would probably run out of space.
the thing that is great about vampire weekend is that they sound like no other band. they are technical and obviously very trained. but what is amazing is that you don’t get the impression that they are wanking (like THESE GUYS … actually i take it back, this part is great and very musical)
they will bring in a string section if they want. someone will jump over to the melotron from guitar in the blink of an eye. they don’t really strum through chords; they write syncopated, fast guitar lines with enough quick delay on them to make you feel like you are in the safest, most exciting ice storm. the drummer is loose and kind of floppy when he plays, but he’s very together. when i hear the music, i think “the parts comes together like an awkward puzzle; should it really piece together?” but it does and i am not very distracted. in fact, i find it quite nice.
i don’t understand a lot of their lyrics. some of them sound like stream of dribble with some buzz words like “reggaeton” and “horchata.” recognizing these words makes realize i am privileged. i am an educated man (but not a harvard man). it reminds me of being white. and i am not sure how i feel about that.
a jaunt to the mall

after work yesterday, i cruised over to the natick collection (mall) to try to find some shirts. i was hoping i would have luck at macy’s since i just got a macy’s credit card and i would feel better if i used it, but all they had was baggy nautica shirts on sale. i was kind of confused, i didn’t buy anything. i didn’t understand how this guy above could have possibly dressed himself with macy’s clothes, they just don’t fit like that.

but i love the natick mall. it’s very modern with all of the stores that i love. they just added this conveyor belt sushi place, right in the middle of this big open space. i know these are a dime a dozen in japan, but in natick (and america) you just don’t see it very often. i think the people in the green shirts probably just take the drink orders and the rest… well, that’s up to you. joe says you can yell things out too, like “more unagi!” if you need more eel to be put on the belt.

there was a new urban outfitters on the second floor above it, but it was small so it only had new, expensive clothes. above the middle area was this awesome glass ceiling, with sunlight pouring in. i almost put on my sunglasses it was so bright.

around the corner was an under armour store. i found this store front to be really powerful; the sheet metal exterior makes it look very strong, like what you would expect from something that calls itself “armour.” the red, glowing light on the bottom reminded me of some kind of bull, breathing heavily, ready to attack if need be. next to it is a brooks brothers store (coming soon). it smelled like drywall when i walked past it, which reminded me of the potential in this space i was occupying.
